Yesterday, when the doctors came by on rounds, they started to talk about Sadie coming home. "Now don't get excited" they said, she's not coming home for a while. They just wanted to prepare us for the weeks ahead. Their best guess was about another month in hospital, depending of course on how Miss Princess performs. She is gaining weight well now, so hopefully that continues. She is 1140g (two and a half pounds) and they hope to have her at four pounds by the time she comes home. She also needs to be feeding well (bottle and breast) and hopefully she'll be done with any oxygen by that time. So our job for now continues to be primarily cheerleading with some skin-to-skin cuddles and tube feeds thrown in.
Tonight we are going to attend a block party for our new street. It's such good timing for us to meet our neighbours. Aside from the fact that it's a potluck and we are supposed to bring a main dish and I have no time or energy to cook (pizza anyone?), it should be a nice couple of hours of diversion from our part-time jobs (Sadie and moving). The kids are looking forward to checking out the new playground too. I had a dream last night that some people came to look at our Cochrane house. Here's hoping they materialize and make us an offer!
